Well, back from a citytrip to the Big Apple with Florica last weekend. It was great, and reminded me how much in love I am with the American spirit. Highlights:
1) Tour guide with 'real new yorkers' : http://www.realnewyorktours.com/yourtour.htm. Our tour guide Luke - a tattoed rock artist - who told me he is 'making some decent money' for the first time in his 40 years. He guided us through back-yard alleys with a historic touch, who showed us a nostaligic juwelry shop that is about to close due to increasing rent, who trusted us his dramatic 9-11 account, who was classmates with Jen Anniston, who poured some American culture in our minds, who was a great NLP guy, and who showed us Joe's Pizza - the world's best pizza - also featured in Spiderman.
2) The splendid view on Easter's brunch at Marriot's rotating restaurant, and at the top of the Rock.
3) The circle line boat tour - doing a full tour around Manhattan island on one of the 4 bright sunny days.
4) The dinners with Flo at a hamburger restaurant (Five Napkins Burger), a fusion sushi place (Samba sushi), a mexican topper (Dos Caminos), and an oriental place (Aja)
5) Museum day where we stormed 3 musea in one day (Nat History, Met & MOMA).
Todo next time: All of the above topped with another flavor.
Compared to NY, time stands still here in Leuven.
