meet new boss - WE in Maastricht - random thoughts

Just a quick braindump of the last days.
Last Friday I had a first meeting with my new boss. He comes from Strategy and spent quite some time as a IT resource manager before that. The word goes he is bright and calm, and up for promotion to director in the not-so-distant future. My first impression is that he can strike a fair balance between being conceptual and being pragmatic. He also seems to be the right man at the right place. I am looking forward to working with him.

This weekend, Flori and I went to Maastricht - to make use of the Bongo arrangement she got from her colleagues. What started as an intended visit to a moderately charming university town, quickly ended up in a shopping spree. Highlight was the 3-floor bookstore installed in an ancient church.

The Maastricht area is surrounded by 3 borders and offers charming hiking opportunities. I must be the only Dutch region where they have something resembling a hill, which is probably why the local 'Oldtimer Hill Race' attracted that much attention last Sunday. As a tournament rule, exhaustion pipes were to be removed from all participating vehicles - at least that's my theory as the roaring echoed during our entire valley hiking trip.

After the Austria experience and now this trip, I got renewed interest in hiking trips, so promised myself to go to Ardennes again more often..
