What Indians can learn from Belgium

"A sense of order maybe, or the lovely cleanliness you see and feel everywhere around here. It is just clean everywhere be it in the city or on the countryside... Or maybe more importantly, a kind of fundamental politeness and etiquette that you encounter in daily situations at the bank, in the grocery store,.." - the words of an Indian visiting professor in the Univerity's alumnus newsletter.

" On the other hand.. you have very rare eye contact with each other - the psychological barriers and territorium are strange.."

I am anxious to learn how Aidan will perceive these remarks. Given the list of items he was prompted to take along, I tend to believe that he will recognize at least some of the aspects.

Last remark - know emperor Ashoka ? He is the equivalent of Caesar or Napoleon back in India -united a continent, installed rule of law, promoted religious tolerance and spread buddhism. Never heard of him. It is indeed remarkable that we are never taught this part of world history.
