Not alone

Apparently, I'm not the only one struggling with creating a cohesive team. One of my direct colleagues faces similar problems. He's a more extravert type, is better at handwaiving arguments, but nevertheless also he is pushed in taking some 'radical' decisions (after trying to squeeze proactivity out of his team members). His (new) motto: a team should always be in motion. Even if they are in opposition (re-action), that's fine. At least they're not inert.

Huge change programs are running at different speeds through the organisation. Lack of resources to implement them is acute. All around me people are changing positions, roles,.. to accomodate for the next priority. Things around me seem to change more often than back in the consulting days. Amazing..

In this environment, I feel that I have (the opportunity) to step up, to manage more tightly, and to create more structure for the team (they are even asking for it..). Obviously, not everybody will be happy, but it surely feels like the way to go.

And guess what, I start to be a bit more Zen about it than before.
